Design
When we started Carmocrat
we had envisioned it as a one-stop shop for all merchandise designed by local
in-house designers. We always wanted to encourage the untapped talent that is
available in India.
Just after going live we contacted one of our old friends
who had designed a few satirical comic art strips in his free time called Because Fuck That
and we took the designs on board. You cannot miss the Hulk:
Anger Management Poster.
Although we had started on our plan we realised it was
difficult to attract quality artists and even more difficult was to be certain
about the authenticity of the designs. As we were selling these posters online
in India, we needed to be certain about the copyright of the designs.
We met a few extraordinary artists during our first stint at
Comin-Con in New Delhi. Two of those designers are still on board with us and we owe a lot
to them for their loyalty and would hope to continue a long relationship with
them.
Our best selling designer is Avik Kumar Maitra
- “A visual artist (specialising in book
covers/illustrations, comics, posters and pin-up art) doing freelance work for
individual and corporate clients.” Avik’s does portraits of a lot of favorite characters, most
notable:
Our oldest and second highest selling brand is Devi8 designs by Gautam
Singh Rawat. Gautam specialises in comics and his designs will certainly
lighten up your wall. His best selling work is the Iron Man.
Over time we have learnt on the job and started designing
a few posters ourselves, without our very own in-house brand “VERITÀ”, we have a few
high selling posters but the best by far is our Friends
Quotes Poster that will take you back to the good-old days.
Over the years we haven’t worked on our own initial plan to
introduce an abundance of designers and have recently started on a path to
right our wrongs. We recently signed on “Blue Chana” and
would like to invite all the full-time, part-time designers and artist to take
part and monetise the hard work you’ve put in towards your passion.
We have recently started Project Design wherein

wall an identity.
